Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive in Kenya
On arrival in Nairobi, you will be met at the airport by one of the team and transferred to our hotel nearby to relax and settle in after your flight. With views of Nairobi National Park from the hotel.
In the afternoon, we will head to the famous Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and meet all of their baby rescued elephants – this is an exclusive list just for us!
Please arrive by 10am. There will be an option to book an additional night should your flight arrive later.

Day 2 - Nairobi to Ithumba Camp
Early this morning, we will head to the train station in Nairobi to catch a train to Kibwezi. Relax and enjoy the scenic journey. On arrival in Kibwezi, our driver will meet us for a game drive to Ithumba Camp where our elephant safari adventure begins.

Day 3-5 - Ithumba Camp
Since its establishment in 2004, Ithumba has played a vital role in rehabilitating nearly one hundred orphaned elephants helping them reintegrate into the wild. Located in the expansive northern region of Tsavo East, untouched by human influence, Ithumba serves as a haven for both rehabilitated and wild elephants. Various herds from young families to groups of bulls, regularly visit the area. Guests often witness heartwarming visits from ex-orphans and their wild-born offspring. During this Safari you are welcome to join the elephants and at the Ithumba stockades during sunrise and sunset and at the midday mud bath. This is a rare opportunity to observe elephants in and meet the dedicated Keepers from the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust who are ensuring a future for these wild animals.
During our time at Ithumba Camp, we will have daily game drives to explore the unspoiled northern region of Tsavo East and go in search of wildlife. Expect to see giraffe, zebra, warthogs, elephant, impala, buffalo and hopefully lion, leopard and cheetah. We’ll also have exclusive daily access to meet and spend time with the orphaned elephants and their keepers at the reintegration unit at the camp. Some days we will visit morning and afternoon!
In addition to wildlife activities available to us, there will also be time for you to relax in the swimming pool or take advantage of optional Yoga classes with the in-house instructor, Laura Bunting.
Ithumba Camp offer four luxurious twin tented bedrooms, providing comfortable accommodations for our guests. Each tent, sheltered beneath a thatched roof, ensures complete protection while immersing you in the bush’s natural surroundings. Unwind on plush mattresses with fine linens, serenaded by the nighttime sounds of Tsavo. The en-suite bathrooms offer the unique experience of showering under the stars.

Day 6-7 - Galdessa Camp
On day 6 we will leave Ithumba Camp and head out on a game drive through the National Park to Galdessa Camp for the last two nights of our safari.
Set along the picturesque Galana River and framed by the impressive Yatta Plateau, Galdessa Camp exists in perfect harmony with the stunning landscape of Tsavo East National Park. During our last two nights of our safari we will be providing a unique opportunity to experience this hidden gem.
Each tent, sheltered under a thatched roof and shaded by doum palms, boasts breathtaking views of the Galana River from its private deck.
During our stay at this camp, we’ll continue to enjoy daily game drives as well as numerous wildlife spotting opportunities at the luxury accommodation. We’ll visit the Voi reintegration unit, serving as a crucial sanctuary where countless elephants have been reintroduced to the wild. Situated at the base of Mazinga Hill, we will have the exceptional chance to join the elephants at the midday mud bath and meet the dedicated Keepers of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and witness firsthand their incredible conservation efforts.

Day 8 - Depart Nairobi
This morning we’ll leave Galdessa Camp and journey back to Nairobi.
Please be aware that this will be approximately a 4–5-hour journey so you will need to book your departure flight to leave Nairobi airport late evening on this day. Alternatively, you may like to book an additional night’s accommodation in Nairobi. You can then spend the night here and fly anytime the following day.
