This afternoon is when the real thrill begins. We’ve lined up private jeep safaris in the tiger reserve for an up-close experience with the diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes Tadoba is celebrated for.

Day 3 & 4: 8th – 9th March – Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve

Over the next two days, we dive deep into the heart of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, embarking on private jeep safaris that promise unparalleled encounters with the wild.

Famous for its exceptional tiger sightings, Tadoba has become a must-visit for those eager to see the Bengal Tiger in its natural surroundings. The chances of coming face to face with these majestic creatures are high, making every safari an exciting quest. Yet, the allure of Tadoba extends beyond tigers; it’s a sanctuary for an impressive array of wildlife. Day 6: 11th March – Journey to Ladakh

Today marks the start of an exhilarating chapter on this trip as we set off for Ladakh early this morning. Following an energizing breakfast, we’ll proceed to check out and make our way to the airport for your flight to the breathtaking city of Leh.

Upon landing, our team will be there to welcome you warmly and take us to our hotel, the Grand Dragon.

Given Ladakh’s unique high-altitude (3000m+) desert environment and its thinner air, acclimatising to the elevation is key. So we’ve dedicated the rest of your day to gently adjust to the altitude. This slow pace ensures you’ll have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout your stay in this stunning region.

Overnight: Grand Dragon, Leh (or similar)

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 7: 12th March – Relaxation & Acclimatisation

Today, we’re taking it easy to let our bodies get used to the high altitude of Leh. Think of it as a chill day, with lots of time to relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air. If you’re feeling up to it, there’s the option to check out some cool local spots around Leh.

We might head over to Thiksey Monastery for some morning prayers, which is pretty special. Or, if you’re in the mood for a bit of a walk, we could take a short hike near Hemis Monastery. There are also a couple of other neat places to see like Stakna Gompa and Shanti Stupa, or we could just hang out by the Indus River and spot some wildlife.

Tonight, we’ll stay in Leh again, giving you more time to get used to the altitude and enjoy the laid-back vibe of this mountain town. Get ready for the adventures that await, but remember, today’s all about taking it easy and soaking in the beauty of Ladakh at your own pace.

Overnight: Grand Dragon, Leh (or similar)

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 8: 13th March – In Search of the Grey Ghost

Kicking off the day refreshed and now fully adapted to the altitude, we’re heading to Ulley. Imagine a tiny, picturesque village tucked away in the vastness of the upper Himalayas; that’s Ulley for you. It’s a place where a handful of homes are spread across the landscape, and where a forward-thinking family decided to turn their home into a beacon for wildlife enthusiasts keen on spotting the snow leopard, often referred to as the “grey ghost.”

The drive to Ulley is more than just getting from A to B; it’s a journey packed with postcard-perfect scenes. We’ll pass by the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, perched high in the mountains, catch a glimpse of where the mighty Indus and Zanskar rivers converge, and maybe even make a stop at the famous Alchi monastery. How we plan the day might depend on the latest news of snow leopard sightings – we’re flexible like that.

As we get closer to Alchi, we’ll take a turn off the beaten path. This is where our adventure really begins. The roads are quieter, the landscape wilder, and it’s here we start our lookout for wildlife. From the Tibetan Wolf to the nimble Himalayan Fox, the rugged Ibex, and the soaring Golden Eagles – this land is alive with wonders.

The drive to Ulley, though only about 2.5 hours, will feel like a journey through another world, with stunning views that beg you to stop and take it all in. Once we arrive at the lodge, you’ll be greeted by a warm, family-run place that feels like home.

After lunch, we team up with local spotters for our first venture into the valley. The team live in the region so they know the land and its creatures and are part of our effort to make sure tourism benefits everyone – especially the wildlife.

Tonight, we stay in Ulley, under the vast Himalayan sky, right at the heart of nature’s masterpiece.

Overnight: Shan at Ulley Lodge (or similar)

Please Note: In winters water pipelines often freeze and thus hot water will be delivered in buckets on request – it’s all part of the adventure!

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 -11: 14th – 16th March – Exploring the Wildlife of Ulley

Today, we kick off our deep dive into the valleys around Ulley, stepping out into the crisp mountain air with the aim of spotting the incredible wildlife that calls this place home. Our walks are all about discovery, not endurance tests, so you can set the pace. Whether you’re up for a gentle stroll or a bit more ground coverage, it’s all about enjoying the moment and keeping an eye out for the animals.

With expert trackers and naturalists from the lodge joining us, we’re not just wandering the wilderness; we’re learning to read the signs of the wild, tracking footprints, and hopefully getting up close (but not too close) to some of the most elusive creatures on the planet.

As the sun dips behind the mountains, we’ll gather back at the lodge. This is where the magic of shared stories comes to life. Imagine swapping tales of the day’s sightings with your fellow adventurers and our local guides, each story adding another layer to our understanding and appreciation of this incredible region.

And for those who crave a deeper dive into the wildlife and ecosystems of the India, we’ve got something special. The lodge has a collection of wildlife documentaries that we can watch together in the communal area. It’s a great way to unwind and soak up even more knowledge about the diverse creatures and habitats we’re exploring.

So, as we settle in for the night in Ulley, it’s with hearts full of the day’s adventures and minds buzzing with the stories and sights we’ve shared. This is what exploring the wild is all about.

Overnight: Shan at Ulley Lodge (or similar)

Meals: Breakfast

Day 12: 17th March – Final Day of Snow Leopards

After spending the morning on the lookout for the elusive snow leopard, we’ll gather one last time for lunch in Ulley, sharing stories and experiences from our wildlife quest. It’s a moment to appreciate the beauty and serenity of the landscapes we’ve been privileged to explore, and hopefully, you’ve had the chance to see the incredible wildlife that drew you here.

As we make our way back to Leh, the journey offers a chance to reflect on the adventures we’ve had and the wonders we’ve witnessed. Arriving in Leh, the rest of the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. Whether you choose to wander through the streets of Leh, reflecting on the journey, or simply relax and soak in the peaceful vibe of this enchanting town, it’s a time to savor the moments of tranquility and beauty.

From here we head to the Grand Dragon Hotel, a peaceful retreat to unwind and recharge. As you settle in for the night, let the memories of the days spent in the wild linger, a reminder of the unforgettable experiences and the majestic wildlife that has shared their home with us.

Overnight: Grand Dragon, Leh (or similar)

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 13: 18th March – Return to Delhi

As you board your flight back home, know that you’re taking a piece of India with you in your heart—the adventures, the sights, the sounds, and the spirit of the places and people you’ve met along the way.
