Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 - ALAJUELA
Welcome to Costa Rica!
Upon arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport, you will be met by your guide and driver before transferring to your hotel in San José. Settle in, relax and get ready for the adventure ahead.
Journey time: Approx. 20-40 minutes
Hotel: Hotel Villa San Ignscio – Standard Room (or similar)
Day 2 - SARAPIQUI: FINCA SURA – LA FORTUNA
Your Costa Rican adventure begins with a scenic journey through the lush rainforest landscapes of Braulio Carrillo National Park as you travel towards the fertile agricultural region of Sarapiquí.
Visit Finca Sura, a family-run organic farm where you’ll discover how pineapple, cacao, turmeric and ginger are grown. Learn about sustainable farming practices, enjoy fresh local produce straight from the farm and savour a traditional Costa Rican lunch.
Later, unwind at the beautiful EcoTermales Hot Springs, a peaceful thermal retreat surrounded by tropical gardens. Soak in naturally heated mineral pools and enjoy a relaxing evening immersed in nature.

Day 3 - PROYECTO ASIS & HANGING BRIDGES
This morning, enjoy a unique hands-on conservation experience at Proyecto Asis, a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre dedicated to caring for animals affected by injury, trafficking and habitat loss.
During your mini volunteer experience, you’ll help prepare food, feed rescued wildlife and create enrichment toys, while learning about the important conservation work taking place throughout Costa Rica.
After lunch, head into the rainforest canopy at Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. Explore a network of trails and suspension bridges while enjoying spectacular views of the iconic Arenal Volcano (weather dependant!).
As darkness falls, experience the rainforest from a completely different perspective on a guided night walk at Arenal Oasis Wildlife Refuge, where frogs, insects and other nocturnal creatures emerge after sunset.

Days 4 & 5 - CARARA
Day 4
Today you’ll travel towards Costa Rica’s stunning Central Pacific Coast and the wildlife-rich region of Carara.
Along the way, stop at the Tárcoles River for an exciting crocodile-watching tour. Explore these fascinating creatures while learning about the incredible wildlife that thrives here.
In addition to crocodiles, keep an eye out for a variety of birds, iguanas and other species that call this unique ecosystem home.
Driving time: Approx. 4-5 hours

Day 5
After a busy few days, enjoy a day at leisure in Carara, where the rainforest and abundant wildlife are never far away.
Relax by the pool or wander the gardens admiring the birdlife.

Day 6 - PUERTO JIMENEZ
Other than driving – what are they likely to do here? Is there an activity? Is this the day we were going to have a beach picnic?
You will settle in to the beautiful Botanika Resort which is nestled on Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula.
You can enjoy a lagoon-style pool, spa treatments inspired by nature and locally sourced dining.

Day 7 - PLAYA BLANCA CULTURAL TOUR
This morning, we will be heading to meet the beautiful local community of Playa Blanca, gaining a genuine insight into life in this coastal village.
This immersive authentic cultural experience goes beyond the typical tourist route, offering the opportunity to learn about the community’s history, traditions and daily life. Along the way, keep watch for local wildlife like sloths, toucans, andmacaws.
After returning to Puerto Jiménez, where hopefully you’ll witness one of it’s spectacular sunsets.

Day 8 - LAST PROJECT
Today offers a truly special opportunity to work alongside scientists involved in the conservation of marine turtles within the Golfo Dulce – this day was a favourite amongst our 2026 guests.
The organisation is dedicated to protecting sea turtles through research, rehabilitation, beach monitoring and conservation education. Their work also includes collaborating with local communities and fishermen to encourage sustainable practices and support long-term conservation efforts.
During this full-day hands on experience, you’ll accompany scientists as they collect valuable data and monitor marine turtle populations, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges these remarkable animals face and the work being done to protect them.
Lunch is included during the project.

Day 9 - COCOA TOUR - DOMINICAL
This morning, travel north towards the laid-back beach town of Dominical.
En route, stop at Finca Kobo for an immersive chocolate experience. Discover the fascinating journey of cacao, from cultivation and harvesting through to the creation of delicious chocolate products, while learning about the traditions behind one of Costa Rica’s most famous exports.
Later, arrive at Villas Río Mar, nestled within lush tropical gardens just outside Dominical. With spacious villas, a large swimming pool, swim-up bar, open-air restaurant, yoga space and spa facilities, it provides the perfect setting to relax and recharge.

Day 10 - DOMINICAL - Leisure day
Day 11 - QUEPOS - ALAJUELA
It’s time for one final adventure before returning to the Central Valley.
Experience one of Costa Rica’s most iconic activities with the Canopy Adventure. Designed for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike, this incredible zipline experience features ten dual ziplines, including one of the longest in Central America at over 1,300 metres in length.
After a scenic journey into the mountains and a full safety briefing from professional bilingual guides, you’ll soar high above the rainforest canopy, taking in spectacular views of the jungle, waterfalls and Pacific coastline.
Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys, toucans and other wildlife as you glide from platform to platform through the treetops.
Following lunch return to the Central Valley and your hotel near Alajuela.

Day 12 - JUAN SANTAMARIA AIRPORT
It’s time to say farewell to the beautiful Costa Rica. Depending on your flight time, enjoy a leisurely morning before your departure.
At the agreed time, your driver will meet you at the hotel and transfer you to Juan Santamaría International Airport for your onward flight home.
Travel time: Approx. 30-40 minutes
