HIKING LEVELS
WILD HEARTED BOOT GUIDE TO HIKING

HIKING WITH WILD HEARTED ADVENTURES

We classify our hiking adventures into four levels, represented by ‘boot’ symbols. The number of boots indicates the difficulty level, ranging from 1 (easiest) to 5 (most challenging).

As we expand our trip offerings, we’ll refine these Boot levels based on your feedback. Our mountain guides may adjust itineraries due to weather or terrain conditions, so a flexible attitude is beneficial. Our knowledgeable and passionate guides are eager to share the beauty of their homeland with you, ensuring a fantastic experience.

Participants should be adequately prepared for the chosen difficulty level. For a 1 Boot adventure, regular walking on flat terrain at a steady pace with occasional breaks should suffice. For a 5 Boot challenge, be prepared for long, continuous uphill climbs possibly at a higher altitude.

We provide daily briefings each morning, as conditions can change overnight. If you feel a particular hike isn’t right for you, or if you’d like a day off, that’s perfectly fine.

1 Boot 🥾

These are easy-going hikes, suitable for beginners. The trails are mostly flat or gently sloping, covering distances of 5 to 10 miles (8 to 15 km) with ample opportunities for rest. Suitable for everyone.

2 Boots 🥾🥾

These moderately challenging hikes are great for those who enjoy some variety. Expect some hills and occasionally uneven paths with loose stones. Elevations are usually below 600m, with daily distances ranging from 5 to 13 miles (8 to 20 km). A moderate level of fitness is required, able to walk at a steady pace during the hike.

3 Boots 🥾🥾🥾

These hikes are for those seeking more of a challenge. Expect steeper ascents over 900m and hikes up to 15 miles (24 km). The focus is often on reaching higher elevations for panoramic views, possibly including a Munro or other notable peaks. Good physical condition, with strong knees and ankles, is necessary. A good level of fitness and experience with hills are required.

4 Boots 🥾🥾🥾🥾

The most demanding hikes we offer. These routes may include steep climbs and descents, with varied terrain that can be rocky and unstable. Hikes may cover shorter distances but involve significant elevation gain, often over 1500m. Suitable for those in excellent shape with experience in challenging hikes. A high level of fitness and experience with hills are required.

5 Boots 🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾

These hikes are reserved for those looking to tackle mountainous terrain. Participants must possess an excellent level of fitness and be capable of walking at a consistent pace for extended periods. The routes often feature steep ascents and descents, rugged terrain, and significant elevation changes. This level may also involve hiking at higher altitudes, where the air is thinner and conditions can be more challenging. Hikers should be prepared for strenuous physical exertion and have prior experience in demanding mountain environments.
