LET’S TREK GORILLAS!

Spending time with gorillas in the wild is the greatest wildlife encounter on Earth according to David Attenbrough. Who are we to argue with the great maestro himself?

Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa whose diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. Its abundant wildlife includes chimpanzees as well as rare birds. Remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned mountain gorilla sanctuary.

The remote, unspoilt parks teem with wildlife such as the famed East Africa big game species of lion, elephant and buffalo as well as primates and over a thousand species of birds.

Uganda, and its neighbour Rwanda, share the unique responsibility of conserving a population of critically endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, funded in no small part through the trekking fees levied on visiting guests.

Mountain gorillas are one of the world’s most endangered species, with only some 600-700 left in the wild. These magnificent animals live in small troops, each within its own defined boundaries and each with several females and their young being led by a single dominant male – the Silverback. Distinct from their cousins who live in the open plains and lowland forests of West Africa, mountain gorillas are normally found in at an altitude of between 1500m and 3650m.

WHO IS THIS TRIP FOR?

Welcome to the adventure of a lifetime! But before we set off, there’s one golden rule: this is a *no princess zone*. We’re here to embrace the wild, the unexpected, and the thrill of the journey.

Remember: Safaris are about the journey, not the comforts. If you’re looking for a royal treatment, this may not be the trip for you—but if you’re ready to swap princess for adventurer, you’re in for the experience of a lifetime!

Rain, Mud, and Mess? Bring it On – A little rain never stopped an adventurer! Whether we’re hiking through muddy trails or dancing in a downpour, we embrace the elements. Pack your raincoat, not your tiara.

Bumpy Roads & Early Rises – We’re up at sunrise and off on long bumpy roads to discover hidden gems. Each hour brings us closer to something incredible!

Comfort Zones? What Are Those? – On this trip, we’ll push the limits! Whether it’s trying local street food, diving into the unknown, or facing your fears head-on, we embrace the challenge together. You’ll leave with stories worth telling.

No Diva Moments Allowed – Teamwork, patience, and a good sense of humour are essential. If things don’t go according to plan, we laugh it off and keep going —just positive vibes and adaptability.

Laugh Often, and Embrace the Adventure – The best adventures have their share of surprises. Whether it’s a flat tire, a cold shower or a sudden change of plans, we take it all in stride with laughter and positivity.

Africa Time – Embrace Africa time, where schedules are more of a suggestion than a rule. Things move at their own pace, and you’ll soon learn to go with the flow.

Get Ready for Early Mornings – The animals wake up with the sun, and so do we! Morning game drives mean early wake-up calls, so prepare to leave your beauty sleep behind and trade it for breathtaking sunrises and wildlife sightings. Snoozing through the alarm? Not an option!

Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking – Our adventures are about experiencing nature up close and personal. Expect to trek through lush rainforests, hike for 2 to 6 hours a day, and tackle some steep inclines along the way. One of the highlights? A memorable journey through the jungle to see majestic gorillas in their natural habitat.

While it’s an adventure that will get your heart pumping, it’s also a rewarding experience. Some training is recommended to make sure you’re ready to fully enjoy the trek. So, come prepared for a bit of a challenge—but with the promise of incredible memories, not discomfort! No diva behavior—just real, authentic exploration.

If you’re ready to trade pampering for excitement, and luxury for adventure, welcome aboard! This is a trip for those who laugh in the rain, seek out the unknown, and live for the thrill of the journey. Let’s make some unforgettable memories!

Trekking with gorillas and chimps means hiking 2-6 hours through hot, humid rainforests with a few steep inclines… you know, just enough to make you question your life choices. But don’t worry, it’s totally doable if you’re in decent shape—or planning to befriend your local gym real soon. Either way, you’ve got this (and possibly some sore legs)!
